Major kudos to everyone posting fixes but this does not absolve Square Enix of the responsibility fix their launcher or at least provide an alternate method of downloading the patch files. I keep getting "Unable to download patch files" Hello all, I just made my account and bought the game, every time I open the launcher to download the game it stops and says it can't download the patch files.

I can't download anything without "Unable to download patch files" appearing and then I have to restart the launcher and it keeps freezing on that message. I am having that problem too, this is the 2nd time in two days that it has happened to me. Unfortunately the only way to fix it is to uninstall and then reinstall the game. As I am writing this I am waiting for the install to finish.

I did research to see if there was another way to fix this problem. There are troubleshooting guides for this specific issue, don't bother none of that works.

At least for me they didn't.
